Ο Μάικλ Κάρικ παραμένει απόλυτα αγαπητός στις τάξεις των οπαδών της Μάντσεστερ Γιουνάιτεντ παρά τα φετινά δεινά που βιώνει η ομάδα, με τον κόσμο να τα βάζει κυρίως με τους παίκτες κι όχι με τον προπονητή, μετά και το 3-0 από την Μπόρνμουθ στο «Ολντ Τράφορντ».
Η ταπεινωτική ήττα (3-0) στο «Θέατρο των Ονείρων» έφερε απόλυτα λογικά και αναμενόμενες αντιδράσεις από τους φίλους της Γιουνάιτεντ, πρόωρη αποχώρηση από τις κερκίδες και μια κατάσταση που αφήνει την ομάδα στη 16η θέση, οριακά πάνω από την επικίνδυνη ζώνη.
Κόντρα στα… πάντα που δείχνουν ότι ο Μάικλ Κάρικ σύντομα θα έχει αποτελέσει παρελθόν, οι οπαδοί των «κόκκινων διαβόλων» τού έδειξαν την αγάπη του και τη στήριξή τους, τη στιγμή που εκείνος αποχωρούσε από τον αγωνιστικό χώρο λίγο μετά το ματς με την Μπόρνμουθ.
Σε πλήρη αντίθεση, οι παίκτες έγιναν αποδέκτες αποδοκιμασιών, με τους οπαδούς να επιρρίπτουν τη μερίδα του λέοντος των ευθυνών σ’ εκείνους.

Despite watching their team get humiliated on the pitch, they stood firmly behind Michael Carrick, singing his name throughout the game and making it clear where their loyalty lies.
Then, as the players made their way down the tunnel, the boos rang out. The fans are absolutely disgusted with what they’ve witnessed since the start of the season, and they know the problems at Manchester United go far beyond the manager.
Carrick has done more for that football club than most of those players ever will, yet he could be sacked tonight because, once again, a group of players appear to have downed tools when things got tough.
Another manager potentially sacrificed while the same problems remain. It’s a disgrace.
